The first forum of 2016 was held at the Wellington International Airport Conference Centre on Friday 13 May. The Hon Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga, Minister of Local Government, explained the Better Local Services reform package. David Brash surveyed the challenges and opportunities for road controlling authorities. Greg Edmonds, Chief Infrastructure Officer for Auckland Transport, discussed some of the biggest challenges and opportunities facing any rca in New Zealand at the moment.
The forum also heard two young engineers’ presentations, on road traffic noise research from Yan Zhou and on the collaborative approach needed to undertake a successful upgrade of Ohakune Mountain Road from Heather Riches, project manager at GHD.
