Dr Hamish Mackie

Dr Hamish Mackie is co-director of Mackie Research and has 24 years of research and consultancy experience in various areas of human factors, road safety, and transport design.

Over this time Hamish has led a number of research projects, trials and evaluations such as the development and evaluation of Intersection Speed Zones, which are now widely used in New Zealand to reduce harm at high-risk intersections.

Hamish routinely works with engineers and others to make sure transport infrastructure makes sense to people, is user-friendly and safe, and is evidence based.
