Duncan Humphrey

Director, Auckland Transport Auckland Manukau Eastern Transport Initiative (AMETI)

Duncan is a Chartered Professional Civil Engineer with over 18 years’ experience in roading and civil infrastructure design and construction. Extensively working in the public sector, he specialises in: Programme and Project Direction, Project Management, Business Planning, Design Management, Contract Procurement, Contract Administration and Construction Management.

More recently as the Programme Director for AMETI, currently Auckland Transport’s largest programme, Duncan has overall responsibility for delivering a $1.4b multi modal programme of public transport, walking/cycling and road upgrades. The Eastern Busway; a core programme component will be New Zealand’s first dedicated urban 2-way busway connecting Panmure and Botany town centres in eastern Auckland. The programme also includes an urban flyover, 2 new bridges and several new roads. Stage 1 completed in 2015 included a new bus interchange, train station and new roads as well as significant environmental improvements.

In his spare time, he is a father of two, a keen competitive mountain biker and loves camping with his family at his favourite campground on Motutapu Island in the Hauraki Gulf.
